A descendant of Perle, Galaxy® is a world-famous aroma hop created by Hop Products Australia (HPA). Development started in 1994 when the main focus was high alpha acid content and consistent yield. However, Galaxy® is best known for having one of the highest essential oil contents, which impart bold and fruity flavours of punchy passionfruit, juicy peach, and tangy citrus when added late in the boil, whirlpool, or dry hopping. Galaxy® is perfect for Pale Ales and IPAs.

Typical Aroma Profile
Galaxy®In HPA’s own words, Galaxy® is characterized by flavors of ‘punchy passionfruit, juicy peach, and tangy citrus’ in beer. It has a clean, bright taste, with the sweet and tangy blend so vivid it evokes the fresh, sun-ripened fruits themselves. This is why Galaxy® is so often paired with varieties like Citra®, Mosaic®, and Simcoe®, beautifully complementing their citrussy properties.
However, Galaxy® is more complex than it first appears. Raw hop sensory delivers the delightfully rich and dark aroma of cassis, giving you notes of blackcurrants and blackberries, along with blueberries and gooseberries. It also has spicy notes of aniseed and fennel, giving you subtle grassy flavors to round everything out.

*Alpha acids are determined by conductometric titration (EBC 7.4) in Europe, by spectrophotometry (ASBC Hops-6) in the USA. Oil composition is determined by gas chromatography (ASBC Hops-17, EBC 7.12).
All values represent the medium range of the last 4 years. Be aware that specifically the alpha and oil values can vary in a broad range depending on the relevant crop year.
