Dolcita™ Hops

DOL

United States

Developed by the Hop Breeding Company (HBC) - a joint venture between Yakima Chief Ranches and John I. Haas, Inc. Dolcita™ HBC 1019 c.v. is a standout aroma hop cultivated through a rigorous and collaborative breeding process. HBC’s mission is to develop pest- and disease-resistant varieties with exceptional agronomic performance and distinct sensory appeal. Their portfolio includes some of the most impactful hops in modern brewing. The name Dolcita™ is inspired by romantic, cross-cultural charm. It combines the Italian word “dolce” (meaning “sweet”) with the Spanish diminutive suffix “-ita,” resulting in a term of endearment often interpreted as “little sweetie” or “sweetheart.” Pronounced dole-SEE-tah, the name reflects the hop’s approachable, expressive, and irresistibly pleasant nature, just like the beers it helps create.

Typical Aroma Profile

Dolcita™ HBC 1019 c.v. is celebrated for its vibrant, fruit-forward character and smooth, balanced finish. The hop delivers an intricate blend of: - Stone fruit – most notably ripe peach and soft, candy-like peach ring - Tropical fruit – including caramelized pineapple, coconut, and melon - Citrus – bright notes of tangerine and orange - Sweet aromatics – reminiscent of cream caramel and tropical daiquiris The resulting profile is expressive yet refined, making Dolcita™ an ideal choice for modern IPAs, hazy and juicy styles, as well as fruit-accented lagers and pale ales. Its ability to evoke flavors of fruity confections and creamy tropical indulgence offers brewers a unique and versatile tool for flavor creation.

Breeding and Background

Dolcita™ originates from a 2016 cross between two developmental lines within the HBC program. Agronomically, it’s a high-yielding hop with an early harvest window, strong field performance, and good storage stability. As with all HBC varieties, it was developed through years of sensory testing, brewer collaborations, and performance evaluations across brewing styles and formats.

Through the combined expertise and legacy of Yakima Chief Ranches and John I. Haas, HBC continues to pioneer the future of hops. Dolcita™ stands as a testament to that mission—bringing brewers a reliable, flavorful, and standout hop for flavor-forward brewing.
